Routes for Thumping Thursday

The Routes
 go through quiet country roads to the west and north of Kingston for a distance of 50 to 60km

The specific route will normally be the next one in the list of routes for Thumping Thursday and will be posted here a few days in advance

  • rides start at Bayridge Secondary School on Taylor-Kidd
  • the B group will typically go at 25-29 km/h, with drafting
  • the A group goes at a faster pace
  • due to drafting, no e-bikes are permitted on this ride
  • rides may be cancelled up to 5 pm on the day due to weather, etc; please check the calendar for any updates before you set out to ride

Safety/Ride Preparation
  • Safety Matters Please familiarize yourself with everything under the "Safety Matters" tab 
  • Lights Always use front and rear lights with daytime flashing modes, but subdued when riders drafting behind
  • Group Riding Communicate your movements (including speed changes) and any obstacles
  • No Wheel Overlapping Just don't do it!
  • Passing Always on the left, and call it out (typically, “on your left”)  
  • Traffic Laws Obey them!
  • Things to Bring
    • cell phone (if available), with the app "what3words" installed
    • copy of the ride route (downloaded to a mobile device or printed)
    • spare tube, pump and tool kit
    • sufficient hydration and nutrition
    • health card and document showing address and emergency contact information
