Difficulty level: Easy to moderate.
Everyone welcome regardless of level. This is a good introductory ride for the inexperienced or returning cyclist and a good fitness booster. The trail environment means vehicle traffic is at a minimum with fresh air and good views. Guests who are interested in the Kingston Velo Club are welcome to participate.
Distance: Your choice, you can turn back whenever you choose. Initially the main group will ride out for about an hour then return to the start.
Distance and duration may be extended later in the season as capabilities increase.
Pace: The ride leader will adapt the pace to that which the majority are comfortable with. Those wishing a faster pace are free to do so.
Terrain: Generally flat, some moderate inclines but no significant hills.
Equipment: Bring whatever bicycle you have. On the gravel section of the K&P a road bike with very narrow tires is not recommended. Helmets are required; bring whatever food and drink you may need for a couple of hours riding and dress according to weather conditions.
Start time: 10AM
Start location: default start location for K&P rides is the Invista Center - North Parking Lot. As the season progresses and fitness level rises we will move to different K&P start locations or possibly other trails to vary the ride.
End location: Same as start
End time: 12PM. Optional lunch - there are several restaurants close to the Invista Centre if some participants want to find lunch or snacks nearby.
Weather: As we will be riding in a trail environment with little shelter available and varying levels of experience and capability the ride leader will make a conservative decision on possible weather conditions forecast for the ride period. Possibility of electrical storm, thunder or other severe weather will likely cause cancellation. Light rain or showers will be a possibility on the ride, choose your attire appropriately.
